Trust & Safety
Last updated: draft · Part of the Blur Terms of Service
1. What is not allowed
Blur is for adults and is not an adult platform. No one under 18 may appear in a post. No nudity and no sexually explicit content; swimwear and lingerie are welcome where nothing intimate is exposed or see-through. No intimate or private images of anyone without their consent, no pretending to be someone else, no violence, terrorist content, crime, hate or harassment, and no post that is not what its title and price say it is. The rules in full are the Community Guidelines.
2. Every upload is checked before anyone sees it
Every photo, clip and profile picture uploaded to Blur is checked automatically, before any other person can see it. A vision model looks at each image and answers 9 questions:
- Is an intimate part of the body uncovered, or is the person nude or topless?
- Is clothing or swimwear sheer or wet, so that an intimate part of the body shows through?
- Does it show a sexual act, real or simulated, sexual touching, or a sexual gesture?
- Is anyone in it wearing only swimwear, lingerie or underwear, or undressed? This is not a reason to hold a post: it gives the next question its meaning.
- Could anyone in it be under 18? This counts only when that person is in swimwear, lingerie or less.
- Is anyone in it clearly a child or a young teenager?
- Does it show real graphic violence: someone being attacked or killed, a dead body, a serious wound, or a weapon pointed at a person?
- Does it show the flag, emblem or propaganda of a terrorist or violent extremist group, or a hate symbol?
- Does it show illegal drugs, weapons offered for sale, stolen cards or forged documents, or another serious crime?
A post is held when an answer that counts is yes, or when the model cannot look at an image or does not finish answering. Otherwise it is published. If the check cannot run at all, nothing is published and the creator is asked to try again.
3. Clips
From a clip, the check looks at one frame every 3 seconds across its whole length, and at the still its preview is made from. A clip can be at most 3 minutes long, so at most 61 frames. Every frame is asked the same questions, and the clip is published only if none of them gives a reason to hold it.
4. What happens to a post the check flags
It is held: stored, and shown, sold and served to nobody. The creator is told at once, in writing, which rule the check thinks the post breaks, that this was an automated check, and that a person will review it. A person on our team then looks at the post and either publishes it or keeps it unpublished. Either way the creator is told, with the rule and how to contest the decision.
The check never removes a post and never suspends an account. Those decisions are always taken by a person. A profile picture the check flags is not saved: the person keeps the picture they had, and is told how to reach us if the check got it wrong.
5. What the check does not do
- It judges what it can see. It can be wrong about the age of a person in either direction, and it cannot know whether the people in a picture agreed to be in it.
- It looks at pictures only. It does not read titles or descriptions, and it does not look for harassment, stolen work or misleading posts.
- Something on screen for less than 3 seconds of a clip can fall between two frames, and the sound of a clip is not checked.
- A profile picture that comes with a Google sign-in is shown as Google provides it and is not checked. One chosen on Blur is.
- It makes mistakes in both directions, which is why a person reviews everything it holds.
For all of these, the report button and the people who read the reports remain.
6. Made with AI
Every photo made in AI Studio passes a check of its own before even its creator can see it: a first model looks at every photo for nudity or sexual content, and the vision model looks at any it flags. Requests for nudity, sexual content, minors or real people are refused; refusals are recorded, and repeated ones pause AI Studio on the account. A clip in AI Studio is made from a photo that passed, moved in one of a fixed set of ways. Everything posted from AI Studio is labelled as AI-generated, and creators must mark AI content they upload themselves. The rules are in Terms, Section 11.
7. Reports, removals and appeals
Anyone can report a post from its menu. We confirm that the report arrived, a person on our team reviews it, and we tell the person who reported what we decided. We do not tell creators who reported them.
When a post is removed, its creator is told at the time which rule it broke, what we found, whether an automated check was involved and how to contest the decision: by writing to hello@blur.fan within six months. Serious or repeated breaches can lead to the account being suspended or closed.
8. Child safety
Nothing may sexualise minors in any way, whether photographed, drawn or generated with AI. Child sexual abuse material is removed at once, the account is closed, and we report it to the competent authorities. A post the check suspects of showing someone under 18 goes to the front of the review queue.
9. Money
Fans pay by card on a page run by Stripe; card numbers never reach Blur. Creator earnings are paid out only through Stripe Connect, which verifies the identity of a creator before any payout. Earnings can be withdrawn 7 days after they are made, from $50. When a payment is refunded or disputed, the tokens it bought are taken back, as the Refund Policy sets out.
10. Contact
To report something, use the menu on the post, or write to hello@blur.fan. If someone is in danger, contact the police first.
